MORE ABOUT ME AND MY JOURNEY:

I earned my certification as Integrative Nutrition Heath Coach. Having  completed a year of study/work in this field, I  am ready to help the world at large reclaim it's health (one by one, of course!)

What lead me down this path of Heath Coaching, aside from my ongoing passion for cultivating a healthy, holistic lifestyle and helping others, has been quite traumatic and incredibly challenging.

I have been in very good health most of my life, but I have suffered with some digestive issues and in recent years had to navigate life with extremely severe food allergies and an onset of acid reflux that brought with it some very strange and scary symptoms.

The food allergy situation has landed me in the ER with Anaphylaxis more times than I'd like to admit--not a good thing when the ER doctors all know your name. The reflux (which in my case was silent reflux --yeah, that's actually a thing) manifested it self in coughing spells, asthmatic episodes (I had never had asthma before), tightening of the vocal chords, trouble breathing, and loss of voice all together. This was particularly horrifying when I showed up at recordings sessions with no voice.

Too many visits to an ER doesn't do great things for your head, and can lead to some bouts of PTSD, which in my case occurred and caused shame and a huge blow to my ego.

I have so much in life to be healthy for. So, I trekked along, fought the fight, got real with doctors and healers and researched and learned to trust my body and mind and advocate for myself. I exercised excessive patience and respect for the process of figuring out how to reclaim my health so I could live my life, spread love and sing my songs.

I also have been quite disillusioned for some time by doctors failing to ask vital questions and simply prescribing medications without trying to get to the root of the issues. I've heard horror stories from friends. Now more than ever we must be advocates for our own health.

With all the trauma, stress, and detective work, I had to remove myself from certain social situations for a while as I was sorting out my health. I had to overcome feelings of doubt and sadness. There is no shame in struggling from time to time;  we are human after all.

The silver lining is a renewed sense of purpose. It's hard to balance your life and health and all the things going on. It can be tough work to unravel your own ball of confusion when it comes to health. There are so many variables like, diet, sleep, exercise, stress, and all the other things that make up a life--like work and relationships. There's the stuff we use in our homes, the stuff we put on our bodies and it goes on and on. It can be quite overwhelming.  It's easier when you have a little help from someone who truly listens, has knowledge and respect for bio-individuality and strives to help you create a plan with some accountability.

I'm looking forward to helping you navigate wellness issues and obstacles to ultimately reclaim your health!
